Tumbling around the web in a big mess. Picking up and dropping off bits and pieces with no clear goal, just spending a bit of time looking at stuff I like.
What do I like? Visual stuff mostly, photos and videos, a bit of music and interesting thoughts. When I say interesting, I mean interesting to me. You might be extremely bored by the whole thing, but I don't really care, because this isn't for you. It's for me.
Although it might look tiny, this awesome robot spider sculpture, made by Montreal-based artist and craftsman Daniel Proulx of Catherinette Rings, is nearly 7 inches wide. The best part, aside from that beautiful unblinking glass taxidermy eye, is the built-in vintage music box on its back that plays a tinkly version of the familiar French nursery melody “Frère Jacques” after being wound up. Altogether it’s exactly what you want crawling across your pillow in the middle of the night.
The Steampunk Musical Spider Robot Sculpture was exhibited at the Mark Twain House & Museum during the Steampunk Bizarre Exhibition 2011-2012 and is currently available for purchase at Catherinette Rings, Daniel Proulx’s Etsy shop, where you’ll find all sorts of other handmade treasures.
